Dudhi ke Kofte (Bottlegourd balls in gravy)

Ingredients:
For koftas-
250gms dudhi/lauki, peeled and grated,
1 small green chilli, deseeded and chopped,
Besan or gramflour, as per requirement,
2 tbsp rice flour,
Salt to taste

For gravy-
1 large onion, ground to paste,
10 badam(almonds), soaked into hot water for 30 minutes and peeled,
Some Milk(optional)
1 tsp jeera(cumin seeds),
1/4 tsp turmeric powder,
1/2 tsp red chilli powder,
1 tsp coriander powder,
1/2 tsp garam masala,
Salt to taste,
Oil,
Water.

To garnish-
Chopped coriander leaves and cream.

Method:
Kofta-
Sqeeze out all the excess water from the grated dudhi. For that place small portions of grated dudhi between your palms and press out the water. Then in a mixing bowl mix all the ingredients for kofta, except besan. As besan as required to form a dough. Prepare small balls and choose to deep fry them, or shallow fry or even steam them. Keep them aside.

Gravy-
Grind peeled almonds with some milk or water in a grinder. Meanwhile heat a pan , put some oil and add jeera. When jeera splutter add oinion paste and saute till it turns light brown in colour. Then add the ground almond paste and again saute for some time. Now add all the masala except salt, mix well and fry for 2 minutes. Add some water to form a gravy. Add salt and bring to boil.
At the time of serving, put the koftas in the gravy and heat it. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and some cream.
