Fodnicha Bhat (Tadka Rice)

This is a recipe that can be prepared with leftover rice, and is so simple that you can prepare it in 5 minutes. Serve with spicy mango pickle to get an unforgettable taste.

Ingredients:
1 cup cooked rice (leftover rice),
1 onion; chopped,
1/2 tsp mustard seeds,
1/4 tsp heeng (asafoetida),
5-6 cloves of garlic; curshed,
1/4 tsp turmeric powder,
1/2 – 3/4 tsp red chilli powder,
Salt to taste,
Oil for tempering,
Few curry leaves (optional).

Method:
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to the rice, mix well. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add asafoetida, garlic and onion. Saute on low-medium flame till onion is transparent. Then add the spice mixed rice, stir well, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with pickle and roasted papad.
