Ingredients:
1 cup flour,
1/2 tsp baking powder,
1 tsp butter,
1/4 cup milk or as required for dough,
2 pinches of salt,
Jam or cream cheese for garnishing.

Method:
In a mixing bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt, twice. Add in the butter and mix in milk slowly and gradually mix the flour to form a soft dough. Now cover the dough with a damp towel for half an hour. Later roll the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about a centimeter and cut out small circles using a biscuit cutter or small bowls(katori). You can also cut different shapes out of it. Grease a baking tray, place these cut scones into it and bake in a preheated oven at 160C for about 15 minutes or till the scones rise and turn golden. When done remove from oven, top with jam or cream cheese and transfer to a serving plate.

TIP:
You can use scones to prepare mini sandwiches using cheese, tomatoes, boiled eggs and serve as a breakfast or a snack.
